Welcome to Coverr! We're a library of free videos, images and music made by talented creators, plus AI tools that let you create your own. Whether you're cutting a YouTube intro, building a website or shipping a product, we want you to use what you find here with confidence.
That's why we've kept this license short and written it in plain words. The rules depend a little on where the content comes from: our stock library, the AI content we publish, or the AI generations you make yourself.

Videos, images and music shot or produced by Coverr's creators, whether you download them on the site or get them through the API. Coverr grants you a free, irrevocable, non-exclusive, worldwide license to download, copy, modify, perform and use them, including commercially, without asking anyone's permission.
We hold model releases for the people in our stock content but don't share them. We don't hold releases for brands, trademarks, landmarks or private property that may appear.
Part of the library is AI-generated: videos, images and music that Coverr creates or selects and publishes alongside stock. Look for the "AI generated" badge on the site, or is_ai_generated: true in the API.
It follows the same rules as the stock library. Use it anywhere, edit it and build it into products, but don't sell or upload the files elsewhere. Being AI-made doesn't make it yours.
Selected stock and AI items, including vertical (9:16) footage, marked "Premium" on the site. They have the same license as the rest of the library: a subscription changes access, not the rules.
Videos, images, music, voice-overs and sound effects you create with AI Studio, Recreate, AI apps or the API. You made them with your own prompts and credits, so they're yours, and so is the responsibility.
You do. Models are unpredictable, and Coverr doesn't review what they make for you. Before you publish or sell a generation, especially in ads, launches, packaging or anything brand-facing, check it for:
Generations come "as is", without any warranty that they're free of third-party rights, and Coverr doesn't indemnify you for claims arising from them.
The Coverr API (REST and MCP) follows the same rules as the website. Library content is licensed as stock or AI content depending on its is_ai_generated flag, and anything from the generation endpoints is your generation.
When a user actually selects or downloads a video, not just previews it, call PATCH /videos/:id/stats/downloads. It keeps creator stats accurate and is a condition of API access. Details are in the developer docs.
Every video object has an is_ai_generated boolean. Filter with filter=is_ai_generated:true or filter=is_ai_generated:false, or use it for your own disclosure logic.
These apply to everything on this page.
Nothing from Coverr may be used to train, fine-tune, distill or evaluate AI models, or go into a dataset for that purpose. That includes stock, AI content, your own generations, and API content and metadata. No scraping or bulk downloading for it either.
Don't use Coverr content, AI Studio or the API to build a stock library, content marketplace or AI-generation service that competes with Coverr.
Not required for anything you download from Coverr, on any plan, though it's always appreciated. Free API apps are the exception; see Using the API.
Privacy, publicity, trademark, property and copyright rights in what's shown still apply, especially for commercial use. Recognizable people, private places and brands may need separate permission. We require releases for content uploaded to Coverr, but we can't guarantee that every use is covered.
Make sure your use is legal and doesn't infringe anyone's rights. All content is provided "as is". If you're unsure, get legal advice.
We may update these terms at any time, and using Coverr after a change means you accept it. Last updated November 4, 2026: we split the license into stock, AI content and your generations, added terms for premium content, sponsored content, API attribution and download tracking, and extended the AI training ban to all content.
Some search results show clips, images and tracks from partners such as Shutterstock, iStock and PremiumBeat, marked "Sponsored by" the partner. They're not covered by this license. Each partner licenses its content under its own, usually paid, terms, so check the partner's license before you use anything sponsored. PremiumBeat isn't related to Coverr Premium.
Not as they are. You can't sell, license or give away Coverr stock videos, images or music, or the AI content in our library, on their own, or upload them to another stock site. You can use them in anything you make and sell, including websites, templates, themes, apps and video editing tools.
Not for anything you download from Coverr, on any plan, though it's always appreciated. Apps on the free (Demo) tier of the Coverr API must credit Coverr and the creator for the library content they show. On Pro and higher plans, API apps don't need to.
Yes. As between you and Coverr, what you generate in AI Studio or through the API is yours to use, sell or license, including as standalone files or on stock marketplaces. You also carry the risk for what the model produced, so check a generation before you sell it.
No. AI videos, images and music published on Coverr, the ones with the "AI generated" badge, are licensed like stock: free to use in your projects and products, but not to sell or upload elsewhere as files. Only content you generate yourself is yours to sell.
You are. Generative models can produce unexpected likenesses, brands or other people's IP, and Coverr can't control or review what they produce for you. Check every generation before you publish or sell it, and don't use one that includes a real person or protected material unless you have the rights.
No. Nothing from Coverr, including stock content, AI content in our library, your own generations and API data, may be used to train, fine-tune or evaluate AI models or to build datasets for that purpose.
No. The watermarked version is a preview for evaluating the content only and isn't licensed for any use. To use a premium video, image or track, download it without the watermark on a Plus or higher plan.
See plansYes. You can build Coverr stock into your product and offer it to your users there, for example as backgrounds in a site builder or footage in an editor. What you can't do is sell the files on their own or run a stock library that competes with Coverr. The Coverr API is the easiest way to do this.

Yes, fully. Crop, re-color, trim, upscale, or remix it with Recreate. Editing is permitted for stock downloads, AI content in the library, your own generations and API content alike, including with third-party tools.
Coverr started as CC0 (no copyright reserved), so many stock sites took our videos and sold or gave them away on their sites. We've since decided to keep our videos free to use for commercial purposes as long as it's not by competitors. We put a lot of resources into bringing you these videos, so we've decided to offer them exclusively on our own site.

Yes. Every API tier is licensed for commercial use, including website builders, template and theme providers, app builders and video editors that offer Coverr content to their users. Free (Demo tier) apps must credit Coverr; apps on Pro and higher plans don't need to. What you can't do is sell library files on their own, build a competing stock library or AI-generation service, or use anything from the API to train AI.
Every video object includes an is_ai_generated boolean. Use filter=is_ai_generated:true to fetch only AI content published on Coverr, or filter=is_ai_generated:false for authentic stock footage only.
Most of our videos are available in 4K, and every video comes in HD. All downloads are MP4 files.
While we're constantly hiring contributors to add new videos, we don't always have the perfect video for every search query, so we supplement our catalog with sponsored content from partners such as Shutterstock, iStock and PremiumBeat. Plus, it helps us keep the lights on :) Heads up: sponsored content isn't covered by the Coverr license. It's licensed separately through the partner under their own terms.
What can't you do with it! Videos have been shown to increase engagement over photos, so consider a video the next time you want to add visual interest to a project. Think: b-roll footage for seamless transitions, backgrounds for every environment, footage for your next music video, promo ad, or social media post. The opportunities are endless.
